Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: Isaiah 1:18

18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 46-47 Hebrews 6

Steadfastly Serve

(Assurance #5)

Steadfast means that one is ‘steady, reliable, and not easily moved or changed from their course’ even in the face of great difficulties.

The parable that Jesus spoke in Matthew 25:14-30 tells of a man who gave different weights of money to 3 servants and went away. When he returned he found that the servants who had been given the most had used their ‘talents’ to make more. The last servant said this to His master:

24 ‘I knew you were a hard man. You harvest where you didn’t plant and gather where you didn’t sow seed. 25 I was afraid, so I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here! Take what belongs to you!’

26 ‘You wicked, lazy servant!’ said his master, ‘So you knew, did you, that I harvest where I haven’t planted? and that I gather where I didn’t sow seed? (Matthew 25)

He was wicked-he judged his master as ‘rich’ man who profited from others(verse 24). He was afraid of punishment if he lost his ‘hard’ master’s money.

This is not about money at all. It is about being trustworthy, good and faithful or not.

The first two servants were steadfast and believed in their master and wanted to do well for Him and so they did. They used well what had been given to them. In the beginning they were excited about pleasing their master. The mind of the third servant was suspicious, judgmental, jealous, and lazy.

We all have been gifted to do what God has set before us.

1 Timothy 3:13

13 “For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.”

We can read this to say “those who serve well in their place” gain great confidence in our faith in Christ Jesus as well as a good standing.

Assurance is built and gained by good practices and attitudes which come from discipline in seeking God and knowing His joy.

Tell God to increase your desire to minister well where you are.

...because He loves you, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name means joy beyond measure. Your kingdom come in my heart to do Your will. Give me today a determination to serve You well. Forgive me my laziness and tear it from my mind.

Great Lord of Heaven’s armies,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
