Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day-1 Peter 3:15
15 “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,”
Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 10-12 Mark 12:1-27
Stay Awake
With all that is going on in the world, I often hear questions often about how I feel about the ‘signs of the times’ and do I think the return of Jesus is near.
My answer is yes. But if I had lived for the last 2000 years, my answer would have been the same for each day of that time.
Jesus said in Matthew, chapter 24, “6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come…13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved...42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”
I hear Jesus say to us, “Do not lose your head(don’t freak out), stand firm, stay awake”.
The Lord is in control and calling the shots as always. Trust in Him, stay disciplined, stay alert.
How is that done? I believe there is only one way. The way Jesus told us in Matthew 22:37-39.
We are to love God with all we are and love ourselves in Christ so we can see God’s love for anyone we meet enough to love them so much much we want all that God has for them.(Love our neighbor as we love ourselves.)
But, we must not get lulled to sleep because the signs of the times have been with us for 2000 years. Jesus is coming back to get us-either when our natural lives are over or when He returns in the sky.
“You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Luke 12:40).
Be ready by loving God in Christ Jesus as much as you can muster. How do we do that? We work with all we are to grow our personal relationship with Him as we can through sound, spiritual discipline.
Tell God you want as deep a relationship with Him as He wants for you to have.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
I want to hallow Your name and know Your kingdom. Forgive me for not being alert. Give me a keen mind for today’s work. Lead me away from evil distractions.
Returning Lord,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
