Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day- Ephesians 5:25-26
25 “Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. 26 He did this to make the church holy by cleansing it, washing it using water along with spoken words.”
Today’s reading: Nehemiah 12-13 Acts 4:23-37
Serve in Spirit
Matthew 6:24. He said, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Is it odd that Jesus compares serving God to serving money? Not when Jesus does it this way. Whatever is precious to us is what we serve. When all we do in this life is preparing for a time when we cannot work and we lay up everything we can to provide for ourselves in those times...there it is. We serve money to preserve self which is more precious to us than anything. Money has become so precious that we forget that we are doing it for ‘me’-at this point, more precious than God.
So, is ‘me’ more precious to you than God? After all, that’s what the money is for.
Some would accuse me of ‘meddling’ and not teaching here…
We must be real with ourselves and with God.
Tell God you are tired of it-confess it-tell Him you want Him to be more precious to you than all else.
Again, do not be careful what you ask for-jump in and ask.
...because He loves us…He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
I do not hallow Your name as I should. Forgive me. I want You in Christ to be more precious than anything else. Forgive me.
Lead me away from evil self love.
Mighty and wonderful God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
