Someone Greater

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:    Psalm 120:1

In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: NUMBERS 23-25 MARK 7:14-37

Someone Greater

A doctor of philosophy and follower of world religions was walking his trained cat without a leash one day when out of the bushes came three lions who had escaped from the local zoo. The man looked into the eyes of the biggest lion and said to his cat, "Summon your inner lion, kitty, and protect us" only to turn just in time to see his kitty disappear down the closest opening in the street gutter.

Most religions other than those who teach following Christ Jesus teach that we have the answers within ourselves and that we can 'summon' whatever strength we need in hard times. The man's kitty knew better. The cat knew to run. The cat knew he was not big enough.

Human beings think they can handle things and this is where most of the teachings of the 'new age' come from. But when the lions approach, the born-again believer knows he is not big enough to handle it alone. We need something bigger than ourselves.

Yes, lions of the world can be defeated with modern arms and tactics but the eternally dangerous lions that cannot be seen are the deadliest.

1 Peter 5:8 ►Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

We know that we cannot of ourselves defeat the enemy. We know we have the Holy Spirit living inside us-infinitely bigger than we are and infinitely bigger than the enemy and his minions.

Our problem is the natural man within us who still thinks we can handle whatever it is. We must become habitual in hearing the word of God,

“...Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”Revelation 5:5

The Lion of Judah lives within us...within us...even when we sleep...but especially when approached by lions limited by their source.

Jeremiah 32:17 ►“Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

Jeremiah 32:27

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for not turning to you always like when I trust my own strength. I am so weak. You are God. Nothing is too hard for you.

All powerful God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
