So They Can See

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

So The People Can See

Jesus said, “33 “No one takes a light and puts it under a bowl or hides it. Instead, he puts the light on a lampstand so that the people who come in can see. 34 Your eye is a light for the body. If your eyes are good, then your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are evil, then your whole body will be full of darkness. 35 So be careful! Don’t let the light in you become darkness. 36 If your whole body is full of light, and none of it is dark, then you will shine brightly, as when a lamp shines on you.” Luke 11

> Verse 34 says that our eye is the light of the body, so, verse 33 says for us to not hide our ‘eye’ under a bowl. What does that mean? It means for us to see the truth-not to hide from the truth or ignore the truth but to live in full acceptance of God’s truth.

If we choose to live apart from God’s truth, our influence on others will be a lie. Verse 34 means that if any part of our body is dark, we will not shine brightly-as God intends for us to shine.

The conclusion I see here is plain. We must make the choice, everyday to shine brightly, in every situation-all the time.

‘Shining’ means we embrace and live and think God’s truth- ‘living the truth’ fully utilizing the ‘mind of Christ’.

1 Corinthians 2:16- ““For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”

Everyday choices-eternal consequences...verse 36, “You will shine brightly…”. God’s light in and from us is our witness to Christ before the world.

...because He loves us...God will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name is the light of the world and Your kingdom. I want to see and live in Your truth so my witness for Christ will be what You want. Forgive me my fear and lead me away from the worldly lust.
