Simply Right

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your limitless love in Christ and endless power. Build my trust and my passion. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the Day: 2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Daily Reading: Judges 7-8 Luke 5:1-16

Simply Right

Years ago, while in Belize on a teaching trip, I saw land that had been cleared of the rain forest where the canopy once had been upwards of 80 to 90 feet high. I do not know why but ever so often a tree had been spared-to stand in testament to the grandeur of the once great forest. As I stood and looked at the tree, I noticed about half-way up, maybe 40 feet, a beautiful blossom of a succulent in a knothole.

No matter how pretty that blossom was, it could never become that majestic tree-not that the plant was trying to be something it wasn’t, but it made me think of people who try to be what they are not. Folks who mimic behavior of others because they feel they should to exhibit acceptable behavior.

False laughter is rather repulsive as is false humility and harsh judgmentalism. These may be acceptable by today’s standards but are still forms of idolatry and are wrong-sin. Simply wrong.

False worship or trying to ‘be the tree’ may look beautiful half-way up but half-way is not the top.

Worship in spirit and in truth is simply and very profoundly the response of our hearts to the unfathomable truth of God in Christ Jesus.

You will never worship the way anyone else does but you can still have God pleasing worship together and we must-the same way we must worship every minute of every day.

We must be ‘simply right’ in the eyes of God but what is simple to God is profound for us and takes our spirit being full of His Spirit and His truth.

Tell God-ask God-listen…

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

I have no other God but You because Your are all. Let me be consumed by Your kingdom. Grant me wisdom for today and forgive me for failing. Lead me away from lust for the world.

Loving and joyful God of peace,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
