Scales of Quantity

Monday, October 14, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Romans 12:2

2 Do not be conformed to this world,[a] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading: Isaiah 45-46 1 Thessalonians 3

Quality of Life

How much of God do you have? How much of you does God have? How big is the church you attend? How much work have you done for the Lord?

Do these questions sound just a little off? That's because they are. God never deals in quantity. He deals in quality. God does not care how much we bring to Him. He wants our best. That's because He is a loving Father and as the perfect Father, God always wants the best for us and so what we bring to Him will be the best.

Yes, God wants His word preached and spoken, and taught all over the world-to every nation, Matthew 28:19. He wants this done in His righteousness through our total obedience and humility. Obedience and humility and righteousness cannot be measured on any human scale.

In the fifth chapter of the Old Testament book of Daniel, the king Belshazzar saw fingers write words on a wall and was frightened and finally Daniel was called in to interpret the writing. Daniel said, "This word TEKEL means you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting."

These scales are of quality not quantity. The king's 'wanting' was the righteousness of God.

Sadly, most of the talk about quality of life in today's world is when someone is in danger of losing their quality of life. What can be done for us to focus on quality before that point? In truth, our worldly view of quality has mostly to do with quantity. How much stuff of great quality can we surround ourselves with to give us the greatest feeling? The answer is always 'more'.

True quality of life is found here: Jesus said, " I am the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me", John 14:6. The way is not measured in miles. The truth cannot be measured in correct answers-but only in righteousness. Life is only in Christ and is eternal.

We are to love God with all we are, Matthew 22:37. We are to be joyful all the time, pray all the time, and give thanks all the time, 1 Thessalonians 5:16, 17, 18.

God, our loving Father, wants the best for us in all things and He has defined quality of life for us. He is the definition of quality of life. Quality of life is not how long we live-it is how deeply we love God.

Ephesians 3:18, NLT: "And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is."

This is the only quality of life-knowing how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is."

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22

God in Christ Jesus as the Holy Spirit indwells us-the only real quality of life.

...because He loves us...

Father in heaven,

How great You are, oh God. I worry about life here so much. Forgive me and lead into a greater knowledge of You and Your love.

Father of life and love.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
