Sacrifices

Friday, March 1, 2025

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the Day: Job 23:10-11

10 But he knows the way that I take;    when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.11 My foot has held fast to his steps;    I have kept his way and have not turned aside.

Sacrifices

(Worship 3)

In God’s original covenant with His children of Israel, along with grain, animal sacrifices were made as a symbol of giving up something precious. We have to think on this. Today we go to the store and buy whatever we need. But 2000 years ago, everyone had livestock in some form that provided milk, meat, hides, and wool for fiber to make fabric. They even used animal waste for fire fuel. Animals were used to carry loads as well as pull loads and primitive plows. So, it is safe to say that humans had become dependent on animals for life.

Grain and animals were used for sacrifices that our God demanded of the Jews because animals and grain mixed water(mixed with the show-bread) sustained life. God demanded the Jews give-sacrifice-that which was most precious for to physical life.

Jesus was and is our ultimate sacrifice-once and for all-no more…He sustains our spiritual life completely as the sacrifices of old sustained physical life.

“But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,”

God still expects our spiritual and physical sacrifices.

Hebrews 13:15–16 (ESV)

15 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Romans 12:1 (ESV)

12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Spiritual and true Worship is to know God fully and respond with a heart that is fully satisfied with God-values, enjoys and treasures Him from the knowledge of Him.

Our lives are a song to God…

...because He loves us…

Father in Heaven,

Teach me more of Your glorious name. Teach me more of Your kingdom. Keep changing my heart for greater obedience and joy. Give me wisdom for today’s work and worship. Forgive me for my laziness and apathy. Lead me away from sin.

All wise counselor,

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
