Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day-1 Corinthians 2:9
9 But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—
Today’s reading: Exodus 29-30 Matthew 21:23-46
Thought By Thought
The Lord's model prayer has a line in it that I have pondered for a long time and this morning as I was praying it I had a thought.
"Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven"-this is the statement. How is God's will done in Heaven? God's will in Heaven, we assume, is done perfectly. There is no sin or pain or suffering in Heaven so we know there is no disobedience. It is a perfect place.
Time means nothing in Heaven since a day is as a thousand years-
2 Peter 3:8 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”
We have a saying to express our feeling of time going by-'Day by day' or 'minute by minute', etc. But in Heaven, there is no 'day by day'.
We may not think as we do now-since there will be no sin in Heaven, but we will be perfectly conscious. So, for now, we will use ‘thought by thought’ for our purposes.
Our obedience comes on this earth thought by thought.
2 Corinthians 10:5
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Arguments against faith come from the enemy. Taking thoughts captive means to lock them up-protective custody-put Christ between your mind and the enemy.
Pretense is false anything that takes our mind from God's truth. Again, put Jesus between your mind and pretending.
Our model for this comes from The Lord's Prayer-'your will be done on earth as it done in Heaven'. Our practice for the goal of being as obedient as those in Heaven are obedient can only be done thought by thought...by taking every thought captive.
Tell God you want Your mind under His control.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done in my heart as it is in Heaven. Give me the bread You know I need for today. Forgive me for letting my mind be controlled by worldly things. Lead me away from evil.
Mighty and great God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
