Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verses of the day-1 John 4:9
9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
Today’s reading: Numbers 12-14 Mark 5:21-43
Clean Feet?
I have heard this verse all my life and today I saw it in a different shade.
Isaiah 52:7 (ESV)
7 How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
The feet are beautiful because they bring the gospel. The footwear at the time this was written was most primitive, mostly sandals. The wealthier folks might have had something more elaborate than sandals but sandals were the main footwear.
So, feet of anyone who walked on the street where animals were used in daily life were always dirty. They had to be washed on entering a home.
Beautiful feet that carried ‘good news’ is imagery. It tells us that the person who carries good news is doing a beautiful work.
I want us to ask ourselves, “How beautiful are our own feet?”
How much good news do we carry?
The Bible tells us to plan the path.
Scripture tells us that God has given us what we need to navigate the tough paths.
2 Samuel 22:34
So, how are your feet, my feet?
Are our feet carrying the good news of God in Christ Jesus or do we hide behind ‘hurting feet’? Do we not have good shoes or what? Corns, hammer toes, fallen arches-bad knees?
What keeps our feet from being beautiful?
Only You know your answer-only you and God.
John 13:10-(Jesus said) “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean.”
Here Jesus tells us today that our ‘feet’-our conscious mind(I believe) that holds our guilt must be washed by confession to Him so we can carry the good news and have beautiful feet.
...because He loves us…
Father in Heaven,
‘Author of all that is beautiful’ is Your name. Help me want to be obedient as I take up my cross. Forgive me for not using what you give me well. Lead me away from anger and judgment.
Giver of all good and perfect gifts,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
