Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: Psalm 119:143
143 “Trouble and anguish have found me out, but your commandments are my delight.”
Today’s reading: Ezekiel 1-2 Hebrews 11:1-19
Hope
When someone says, “Well you better hope that happens”, it means that it may or may not happen.
Our hope in Christ is different. I love the way the International Children’s Bible put it in Hebrews 11:1-
“Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.”
Our faith in Christ does not mean we ‘hope’ we make it to Heaven or we ‘hope’ God takes care of us or we ‘hope’ the joy of Christ fills us-no-our faith tells us our hope is guaranteed.
Hebrews 6:19 “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.”
Heaven, God’s provisions, the joy of Christ-all are guaranteed by God.
Our plight is reaching a point where we live in that hope, that anchor for our souls. Some of us see people of great faith and long to know that security. It is also guaranteed in Christ but we have to work for it-we have to dig deep into the place where we keep our priorities. We must dig down to where we are naked before God and ourselves-the place where there can be no false faces or lies. The place where God defines humility-where it is real.
We must tell God that after all we have been taught and all we have studied we must depend totally on Him for our growth and strength and peace and joy. We cannot generate any of it.
We must realize: “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? “(Romans 8:32)
Our faith and hope is built upon knowing God well enough to know without doubting that He cannot help but give us all we need because He gave His own Son’s life to guarantee it.
There is a prayer of Paul’s that we can pray for ourselves from Ephesians 1:17: God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Pray it back to God: “Glorious Father, give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that I may know You better.”
...Because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Great God of Heaven’s armies, let Your kingdom obedience come in my life. Forgive me my weakness of belief and give me today what I need to know you better and ward off doubts. Deliver me from evil.
Great King of Heaven and earth,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
