Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9

8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the 

truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and 

just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all 

unrighteousness.

Verse of the day: 2 Corinthians 13:14 “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 10-12 Galatians 1 

Proof

Romans 5: 3 “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

This passage was curious in that when I looked at the Greek I found that the word ‘character ‘ actually translates ‘proof’. So verse 4 would read like this:

“and endurance produces proof, and proof produces hope“.

What does that mean? Proof to whom? We don’t have to prove anything to God. He sees the intent of our heart(Hebrews 4:12).

This ‘proof’ is, number 1, to us-to ourselves. Through suffering we experience God’s sustaining power but we also learn and live the reality of how the Holy Spirit builds and strengthens-even defines endurance in us -our own endurance. It is the ‘proof’ of God’s presence in our lives. That ‘proof’ produces hope that is alive in us which brings,

number 2,

proof of the presence of God to the lost world that God is real in us, so, there is no shame before the world-our lives in Christ are real spirit filled lives that the world cannot refute no matter what they do or say.

What proof do we feel in our lives? The proof depends on our acceptance of His provision. How much do we seek God and what He provides? God created us so that we could enjoy Him and love Him and praise Him with all we are. He has given us all we need to realize this as we live.

Where is the proof of this acceptance in the fruit of our lives?

Have we accepted enough of God’s provision to know His joy in all times of our lives?

Yes, we all have work to do in seeking and accepting and growing. Tell God how you feel about what you have just read and ask Him to guide you to real proof of His presence in Your life-His real character in you.

Father in Heaven,

May my words and actions show the world how perfect You are as I learn more of Your kingdom. Help me accept all that You have for me today. Thank You for it all. Lead me away from wickedness.
