Pride

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:    Galatians 2:20 (ESV)

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: JOSHUA 10-12 LUKE 1:39-56

Pride

Ephesians 2:8–9 (ESV)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

God inspired Paul to spell it out-you have been saved by grace through faith-a gift from God-no one can earn their salvation-if they could, they would be able to brag that they saved themselves-and God hates human self pride.

Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;

Pride and arrogance and the evil way

And the perverted mouth, I hate."

 The human mind that is not saved finds pride anywhere it can. That is one reason the foul mouth is so prevalent in the world and that is why it is mentioned in that verse-there is pride in the freedom to throw as many words as one can-for some. Others find pride in being the quiet one who controls their language and judges those who do not.

Pride and arrogance and the evil way-the reasons we are saved by grace through faith by the blood of Christ Jesus and not by what we can perform.

From Romans 11:16-24-verse 20-"Do not be arrogant, but tremble.";

22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness.

Humility is not a fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22,23 and that is because when a person is filled with the Spirit, they are Divinely humble.

In Christ Jesus, there is nothing to brag about-but everything to Glory in...

...because He loves us,

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for my pride in self. Holy Spirit, keep me in Your humility.

Kind and faithful Father,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
