Present Salvation

Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...
Verse of the Day: 2 Corinthians 5:19-20
19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Today's reading: Genesis 31-32 Matthew 9:18-38
Present Salvation
"You have been saved by grace through faith..."(Ephesians 2:8-10)
This is past tense-We have been saved by trusting Christ Jesus.
We are guaranteed our future salvation.
1 Thessalonians 1:10 (ESV)
10 "...and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come."
But what about now? Because some of us have noticed what it says in scripture about present tense salvation:
1 Corinthians 1:18 "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
"...us who are being saved..."(same tense in Acts 2:47 and 2 Corinthians 2:15)
We need to hear the fact that in Christ we are finally and definitely saved-no doubt. But the Bible says we are 'being saved'. God is actively saving us day to day. How?
Sanctification. Yes, we have written on sanctification before but we need to hear it over and over. This is the daily 'washing by the word'-the living word of God.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 "But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth."
The enemy will try to use this for our fear and worry-but-the glorious thing about this for us is that God did not save us and leave us alone until we die. He saved us and is saving us until we live with Him in glory.
We are being saved at this moment and God will never stop.
1 Corinthians 15 "Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain."
Trust God-especially when you fail-God will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 "Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it."
"He will surely do it."
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Your name means eternal salvation and life in Your glorious kingdom-and now. Keep me in obedience. Give me Your bread for Your work today. Forgive me for longing for things of the world. Lead me away from evil.
Great and always present friend and God,
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
