Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day- Psalm 91:1
91 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most HighShall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
Today’s reading: Esther 3-5 Acts 5:22-42
Pray Simply
Jesus taught us to pray-He commanded us to pray-He expects us to pray. He said, “When you pray…”.(Matthew 6:6&7)
A bunch of words repeated time and again is not what Jesus wants-Jesus wants our bare hearts-He wants us to be truthful and say what is on our minds. Why?
“When you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matt. 6:7–8).
God knows what we need. Do we? So, if we pray stuff we do not need, we are not truthful with God-what? Why do we do it? Just be truthful and plain because when we do this God hears us tell what he already knows to be the truth and truth is what God loves.
Perseverance in prayer still does not mean many words or to not pray for the same thing over and over. He is teaching us patience and teaching us about Him. He knows best when and how to answer prayers even though we want it all now.
Pray simply in Jesus name. Jesus taught us: “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13). Ending a prayer in Jesus name is not just ‘what you do’-He is our only access to God.
Simply pray the truth of your heart.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
I want Your name to be known above all other names.
I want all of us to know Your kingdom and all it means. Give me what I need today. Forgive me for wasted words. Lead me to speak plainly and joyfully to You.
Joyous God and friend,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
