Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verses of the day-Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today’s reading: Leviticus 23-24 Mark 1:1-22

Perfect Patience

Here’s a note for any of you who are praying for a lost friend or family member who is deep in sin. There are those who seem to some of us ‘unsavable’ or those who have voiced their own deep depravity and believe God’s grace does not include them.

There was a man named Saul. He is now known to the generations as Paul or Saint Paul and this is how he spoke of himself in 1 Timothy 1:13&16:

13 “Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.”

Paul, a man who once cursed Christ and all Christ taught and lived and persecuted-hunted down and imprisoned believers-a man who was violent against God’s plan in Christ-writes that Christ displayed His perfect(complete and holy)patience.

Paul calls himself the ‘foremost’, verse 16, meaning he was the worst of the worst of sinners-if he could be saved, then anyone could.

I talk to people all the time who say they are ‘too far gone’ or “God does not want me”, and I read what Paul said of himself and know that no sin is above the forgiving grace of God.

So, if you have someone in your life or if God has laid someone on your heart who seems irredeemable, know that God’s patience-the patience Christ had for Paul, the ‘foremost sinner’, is the same now as it has always been-perfect and inexhaustible. Keep praying for them. Keep trusting. Pray that God ‘knock them off their horse’ as Christ did a man named Saul. Keep believing.

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name is greater than any sin and is to be hallowed. Your kingdom obedience is my greatest need. Give me today what I need for Your work. Forgive me for giving up on some folks so easily. Lead me away from wicked judgment.

God of complete patience.

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
