Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verses of the day- Philippians 2:14-16
Today’s reading: Genesis 41-42 Matthew 12:1-23
Other Gods
Psalm 16: 4 “Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.”
The world without God is an unhappy place. Hate seems to be in every news cast and so I have no choice but to turn them off. The world has chosen, by the enemy’s design, to chase after other gods.
But what happens if we believers get our eyes off of God and chase after other gods? The Bible says in Psalm 16:4 that we will suffer more and more. Plain and simple truth. Our lives can only be miserable with our attention on the world.
The obvious lesson is to keep our eyes on God-to never lose our firm footing on Him. But in this world of so many attractions and subversions, how do we live in His peace moment to moment?
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3
3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
There it is-we must not let our hearts be worried by the world-the worries of the world can be another ‘god’. We must trust the Lord our God and be conscious of Him always-talk with Him all the time.
It sounds so weird to some but it can be done and is being done. He is our constant friend who never leaves us. He never gets mad at us and walks away. He never gets tired of hearing where we need help. And he never gets tired of our hearts being full of His joy.
Tell God you want this kind of relationship with him.
...because he loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come in my heart and Your will be done in my life by my choices. Give me today what You know I need. Forgive me for chasing after the world.
Great and gracious God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
