Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day-Galatians 2:20
20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 7-9 Luke 9:18-36
Not Only That…
Paul gives us two things to remember about Jesus in 2 Timothy 2:8:
“Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel.”
Number one is that Jesus is risen from the dead. That means he defeated death and all-everything-that means. He defeated death for us.
Romans 8:11 (ESV)
11 “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
So, we have nothing to fear in death.
Matthew 10:28 (ESV)
28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.”
Our focus in this life is ‘feeling good and being happy’. Maturing means we find out that this world cannot keep us feeling good nor keep us happy.
Only God can keep our hearts feeling good and peaceful in the middle of pain and trial and keep our joy up at the same time.
The second thing Paul says is that Jesus is the offspring of David. This means He is Messiah. He is the answer. His kingdom will be forever-with us in it.
“...and of His kingdom, there will be no end.”(Luke 1:33)
There is no end to our lives in Christ Jesus. This is said all the time. But, we must pray that the Holy Spirit impresses the gravity of this truth on our hearts and in our minds.
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.”
Ask God to make your mind steadfast.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Your name reaches farther than any understanding. Your Kingdom is peace. Keep my mind steadfast in my resolve for obedience. Forgive me for all my fears and lead me into deeply trusting You.
Father of certainty,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
