Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day:2 Corinthians 5:17
17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Today’s reading: Genesis 1-3 Matthew 1
New Day Resolution
I have never been for so called ‘new year’s resolutions’. I believe that God gives us desire to ‘resolve’ to achieve certain things for Him and to hold to certain beliefs and disciplines for His glory. Here are two verses for this:
“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
1. In seeking God and growing in Christ, God lays good things on our hearts and minds that we need to achieve. If not of God, it should not be pursued. But God will give you what you should ‘resolve’ to do.
2. If a resolve is not of faith, it is sin.(Romans 14:23)
3. When in faith, God fulfills our resolve by His power. When we depend on our own resolve, we are doomed to failure.
4. The Lord gets the glory-and we are glorified in Him to His glory. Glory in Christ lasts only in Him. If we receive glory on our own, it is empty and it perishes.
When we see ourselves falling short of God’s glory in an area of our obedience(Romans 3:23), I believe it is the Holy Spirit telling us that He offers us the power to resolve to bring God glory in this area. So, resolve, in Him, not to fall short.
When the Holy Spirit lays something on your heart that needs to be done, resolve, by God’s grace to get it done.
Each day is a new day with God’s grace ‘new’ every morning(Lamentations 3:22&23). Ask God to refresh your resolve with the dawn of each new day.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
The grace in Your name is new every morning. Your kingdom holds new knowledge each day. Give me the resolve to do Your work and obey today. Forgive me for choosing to forget. Lead me away from evil.
Holy and gracious God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
