My Verse For Tomorrow

Tuesday, December 31, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Isaiah 43:18-19

18 Don’t remember the prior things;

    don’t ponder ancient history.

19 Look! I’m doing a new thing;

    now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it?

I’m making a way in the desert,

    paths in the wilderness.

Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

My Verse For Tomorrow

Philippians 3:13 "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

New year's resolution? No-no more empty thoughts about losing weight or saving money or 'doing better'. But...

If you do anything, write down a prayer you will see everyday and pray everyday.

My suggestion is that we pray for our Mighty God to increase our resolve to take up our own individual crosses everyday and really find out what obedient and righteous living in Christ Jesus is.

Not a resolution-but a prayer to increase our resolve-to forget what is behind-what-not whom-forget the 'whats' and forgive the 'whom'. Pray for the Holy Spirit to open to you(us) His world of acceptance and rid us of unholy attitudes of judgement and condemnation. Pray that along with our brothers and sisters, we reach new heights of joy in Christ. Pray for a real depth in our hallowing of God's name.

Isaiah 43:16

16 The Lord says—who makes a way in the sea

    and a path in the mighty waters,

Paul said, "...straining toward what is ahead..."

No, tomorrow is not a guarantee-life in Jesus is- regardless of what happens on this earth.

Straining means 'stretching forward'. Paul wanted us to hear the urgency and excitement in His heart about what God has in store for us next.

Strain-stretch-expect joy and power and miraculous life Christ has for us-either here or with Him in paradise.

Pray for more resolve to really stretch...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

You make a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters. Let Your kingdom be known deeply and let me strain for obedience to You. Give me Your bread for Your work. Forgive me my weak resolve and lead me away from weak thoughts.

Mighty God who rides above the desert,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
