Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV
Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”
Verse of the day: Philippians 2:3-4
3 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 1-3 2 Corinthians 11:16-33
Magnifying God
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32)
Before and after this verse, Jesus talks about possessions and selling all of it and giving to the poor. When we are not afraid concerning money-we magnify God 5 ways from this Luke 12:32
Five ways to magnify God, which is worship, from this beautiful promise in scripture.
1. Because the Lord is our shepherd, we shall not ‘want’. The Hebrew word for want is lack. We shall not lack or need anything. When we live in the trust of a sheep for the shepherd-when we really believe God will provide us with all things, we live in that freedom of fear and magnify God with our faith.
2. “...your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom…” When we don’t have money fears, we magnify God as our Father-we know our Father will supply us. We have a shepherd who lays down His life for us and a Father who has done all to provide everything we need. But remember, God defines what we need by His will.
3. “... for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom”. Only the King can give us the kingdom. When we do not have money fears, we magnify and worship God as shepherd, Father, and King. (If we have money fears, we do not magnify God and so where then is our worship?)
4. Without money fears, we magnify God as generous. Jesus did not say God would sell or rent or lease us the kingdom(which means no payments)-we trust His generosity as shepherd, Father and King and in this magnify Him in worshipful hearts.
5. When we live free from fear, we magnify God as a shepherd, Father, and King who is happy to do it. He does not stand off and say, “Maybe if you perform well…”, no-God gives with a glad heart because His love for us is so indescribable. One Bible version states Luke 12:32 like this: “Do not fear, little flock, for your Father took delight to give you the kingdom.”
All of us-all-have anxiety over money-some more, some less. Some have great fear. The fear of money is as bad as the love of money because it keeps us from magnifying God as our generously glad Father, Shepherd, and king.
So what is the answer? Keep rolling Luke 12:32 over in your minds and, yes, it is a battle of almost everyday. But it is an essential part of presenting our lives as living sacrifices to Him. (Romans 12:1&2)
Relax-be relieved-little sheep-Your father, the King-is delighted and excited to give you the kingdom.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Great shepherd, Father, and King-Your name be magnified in my life. Thank you for Your kingdom and help me know it better and follow Your will. Give me the understanding I need for today’s battles. Forgive me for fearing money troubles. Lead me away from this evil.
Shepherd, Father, King,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
