Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse:Jeremiah 15:19 ESV
Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”
Verse of the day: Psalm 119:7
7 “I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules.”
Readings:
Logging
“First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:5
There is a command here, so what do you see? Taking a log out of your own eye? What does that mean?
First, look in the mirror. It occurs to me if I have a log in my own eye, I am blind. Why? I have let a sin grow in my heart so long that I don’t realize it’s there. I cannot see the truth anymore-so-it’s time to confess my sin.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Jesus tells us if we are to help someone out of their sin, we must be out of ours.
Matthew 7:5 also tells us that there is bad judgment and good judgment. What is that? Bad judgment comes from bad motivation-anger ro just a sinful attitude.
Good judgment is from Godly motivation. If our minds are truly controlled by the Holy Spirit, The Spirit shows us the wrongs in someone that needs help seeing their sin-their sin has not grown into a log-yet-it is still a splinter-a sapling.
Now that you have confessed the log and God has removed it, you can, from your experience, help someone conquer their sin by their own confession.
I said there was a confession in Matthew 7:5 and actually there are two.
The first is to keep yourself holy in the eyes of God.
The second is, as a holy servant of God, help others see their sin.
The danger Jesus wants us to see is that we cannot help when our judgment is from a sinful heart. We must tread carefully and always be aware that sin builds walls and separates friends and can kill relationships altogether.
Much prayer and preparation must take place before we approach a friend who is in sin.
Let the Lord speak-do not depend on your own wisdom.
Clear heart-clear eyes. See with eyes that are clean before God.
Tell God you want to be clean-you want to confess whatever it is that keeps you from seeing with His eyes.
...because He loves us...He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
Holy is your name. Your kingdom come and please give me the desire to welcome your kingdom. Give me today the desire to deal with my sin. Lead me away from wicked judgment.
Forgiving and merciful God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
