Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV
Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”
Verse of the day: Ephesians 4:29
29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 4-6 2 Corinthians 12
Live In Truth
This is the next thing we will explore that Jesus commanded us to do.
“Let what you say be simply “Yes” or “No”; anything more than this comes from evil.”(Matthew 33:37)
Pilot asked Jesus, “What is the truth?”. He walked away not even wanting to hear the answer.
Jesus said, “I am...the truth”.(John 14)
“Do not bear false witness” (Mark 10:19)
He warned that “deceit” comes out of the heart and defiles a person (Mark 7:21–22).
He considered religious hypocrisy a hellish form of lying (Matt. 23:15).
“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44).
Jesus said of himself, “The one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood” (John 7:18). But, we are to be like Him and live in truth.
Jesus never changed His teaching when someone disagreed to make it more palatable. He was the truth, spoke the truth, lived the truth, died by the truth, and rose and delivered us in truth.
Jesus taught us to always know ‘how’ to answer. Let our yes be yes and no, no. This is even hard for the world to understand. The carnal mind seems to always find a way to hide the truth. But, the mind of Christ(1 Corinthians 2:16) is set on the truth and speaking it.
The honor of any of our lives is in God’s truth. Do you always tell the truth? Yes or no? It sounds like such a small thing in today’s culture but it is central in all of God’s kingdom that is within us(Luke 17:21).
In Christ, Christ lives in us-the truth lives in us-speak the truth and live the truth. The truth has set us free(John 8:32). So, be free.
Tell God about your thoughts on your life and truth. He knows-He just wants you to hear yourself tell Him. He will free you from lies.
...because he loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
The truth is that I don’t hallow Your name enough. I want to know Your kingdom like You want. I want to want to obey You. I need today’s desire for truth. Forgive me for my false thinking. Lead me away from evil.
Father of truth,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
