Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: John 10:9-10
9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Today’s reading: Daniel 1-2 1 John 4
Joy Of The Season
The joy of the coming of Christ is what Christmas is all about. We needed a savior and God brought us one-a perfect one. How did he do it?
He chose Mary-a nobody in terms of class at that time. Her fiance was a carpenter. All she had was the fact that she was a descendant of King David-and she had God.
He also chose Elizabeth, a woman past her child-bearing years-to give birth to the ‘voice crying in the wilderness’(Luke 3:4).
The point is the joy of these two woman. I believe it is recorded so we have the record for all of us of how God chose two unlikely people to bless far beyond their dreams.
They expressed their joy-first Elizabeth gave God the glory in Luke 1: 25 “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
God chose Mary to be the mother of Christ and she sang a song.(Luke 1:46-55).
Mary visited Elizabeth and when Elizabeth heard her voice, her baby inside her jumped.
I know that their joy cannot be felt by anyone for their special births. But the joy of Christ Jesus is real in our lives and it can be felt if we listen and seek God.
We do not want their joy. We want the joy of Christ in our own lives to be real and thriving. The problem that many of us have is that we don’t really know this joy. The world is a hard place to live. Hearts get broken and lives shattered.
How can we not just experience the Joy of Christ but live in it?
Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
This season, this Christmas season, humble yourself before God as Mary and Elizabeth did, and tell Him you want all He has for you for His glory.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Holy God your name is glorious. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my heart. Give me what You know I need today and Your wisdom to use it. Forgive me for not seeking enough.
Father of all real joy,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
