Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day- 1 Corinthians 10:13
13 “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
Today’s reading: Genesis 43-45 Matthew 12:24-50
Jesus Knew...and Knows
In Matthew 12, Jesus was being verbally attacked by the Pharisees and in verse 24 they said, ““This man can force demons out of people only with the help of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons.”
The very next verse says this, (25) “Since Jesus knew what they were thinking…”
Since, of course, Jesus knew what they were thinking-of course He knew. He is God. Yes, all the Pharisees saw was a ‘crazy’ man who needed to be done away with but Jesus, God in the flesh, knew everything that was being thought and contemplated by His enemies. Jesus saw in black and white.
Jesus still sees in black and white. He sees righteousness and He sees sin. It is His mind and soul. He thinks from pure love and holiness.
Jesus sees our every thought in black and white. He sees if we are walking in the Spirit and living and using His mind, that we have(1 Corinthians 2:16).
We have the mind of Christ. This is so deep that many of us hear it and, in fear or disbelief, pass on to the next thought.
So stop. Since Jesus knows exactly what we are thinking(Matthew 12:25), stop and acknowledge this truth. It is a painful truth that we don’t dive into this glorious truth.
If we have learned to use the very mind of Christ that is ours in Him, we could hear hate thrown at us and speak reason as Jesus did to the Pharisees-reason without hate.
To think as Jesus thinks means we can hear hate and return love.
There it is-everything Jesus would have us think and speak is ,of course, in His holy love.
What would a news cast be if it was done with the mind of Christ in His faultless love? Bring this home and ask what would your thinking be if it was always done in His pure love.
How would you have reacted the last time you responded with words you now regret?
Being conscious of the mind of Christ means that we depend on Christ for our responses in every situation-in all of our contact with the world.
The worldly mind says this is impossible. The God-seeking mind(Matthew 6:33) says, “Oh God, my heart breaks for this to be my way of life!”
Pray this for yourself.
...because He loves us, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Change my heart to hallow Your name with my every thought. Let excitement fill my heart and mind to learn more of Your kingdom and kingdom obedience in my mind. Give me Your bread and the capacity to use it. Forgive me for ignoring Your deep truth.
Lead me away from evil.
Father of righteousness,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
