Inside Our Spirits

There are many reasons for the past few days that we are looking at loving ourselves the way the Lord says – and not the way the world says.

One main reason is John 4:23 where Jesus said, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. “

The question we raise is in what ’Spirit’ does Jesus mean? I believe Jesus is talking about inside our spirit by His spirit and filled with His spirit.

To review, Jesus said, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.” (John 3:6)

The spirit in natural man is nothing compared to the new spirit born in us of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus says that true worshipers worship the Father in ‘spirit’, He means that only those spirits that have been ‘quickened by the Holy Spirit’ can truly worship. Any other worship is in ‘vain’.

In Matthew 15:8,9, Jesus says, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.“

I believe either personal Bible study or ‘Sunday school’ is essential-the spirit is awakened to truth that the mind ’grasps’.

Our affections, (our love for God), are awakened by the truths of Christ. No real affection for God, no real worship.

No real affection for God means no real affection for ourselves.

This is a dark place that Jesus died to get us out of. So, we need to know God through His true word and in His Spirit so we will rejoice in our self that He has created. Rejoicing in self is rejoicing in Him which is worship in spirit and in truth.

No matter how bad we think our sin is-and it can be bad because of our flesh-there is still the new creation that is declared righteous in the blood of Christ.

Return and rejoice. Return and worship in spirit and truth.

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

By Your name, I am born again-hallowed be Your name. By Your spirit, I know the kingdom a little more each day. Give me what I need to stay away from evil and forgive me for not seeking truth and joy in You.
