Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse:Jeremiah 15:19 ESV

Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”

Verse of the day: Psalm 112:5

5 “It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;    who conducts his affairs with justice.”

If Your ‘Eye’ Is Healthy

Matthew 6:“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

Why do so few find the narrow gate in Matthew 7:13,14?

Jesus tells us that bad eyes see darkness. What does that mean? Bad eyes come from honoring money instead of God(Matthew 6:24). Bad eyes look back and long for their former lives and turn their sight of God’s future to useless salt(Lot’s wife Genesis 19:26). It means that our minds and our desires are not thinking about the treasure that our God is. We are not treasuring God in Christ. Bad sight or darkness comes from minds still consumed by sin.

Instead of saying, “Lord, satisfy us this morning with Your steadfast love”, we say, “If I can just get past this next financial point or just get this for myself or my grandchildren or if I can get these people to say these things of me…”

We sometimes sit and wonder why things are not happening the way we think they should when we should be allowing the Spirit of Truth to change the way we are thinking.

We are not thinking on the narrow path. There is the narrow path to salvation that we have in Jesus but Jesus teaches us that the narrow path calls for us to continue to strive for it in our thinking that governs our living.

Jesus said in Matthew 15:18, “But the things going forth out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and these defile the man.”

Out of the mouth’ not only means words, it means our actions. It means the way we live. If you say it, you will do it.

If your eye, your mind, is not healthy, you are in darkness-even when saved, you can be full of darkness because you do not seek Him, you are not living awake and conscious of God’s second to second power in your life. Jesus says in Luke 11:35, “Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.” In other words, be vigilant. Don’t be casual or slack or careless about this. Strive, wrestle, fight to keep your eye good. That is, do what you must to see God, not money, or fame or security as your supreme treasure.

So, tell God you want to see in His light-walk in His light-speak and move in His light-you want your eyes to be good.

...because He loves you...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

I must hallow Your name. I must seek Your kingdom. Grow my resolve to obey You and give me the desire I need for today to seek only You. Forgive me for not seeing Your light because of my sin. Lead me away from dark thinking.

Father of Light and Life,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen

ree
