Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, open my heart and mind, Holy Spirit. Fill my consciousness and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day: Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Today’s reading:Ecclesiastes 1-3 2 Corinthians 11:16-33
If We Want What God Has For Us
Proverbs 2 says this in the first 5 verses:
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
If you:
Accept God’s words
Store up His words
Turn your ear to Him(listen)
Apply His words
Call for insight and cry for understanding
Really treasure God’s wisdom
THEN-then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
The writer intends for us to hear his urgency-God wants us to feel urgency for Him. Why? What is so urgent about knowing God?
God is our Heavenly Father-our Father- a parent with ultimate love who wants His children out of harms way and wants them to know Him. He wants us to listen-always. He wants to bless us so He can enjoy seeing His children full of His joy in His blessing.
God does not want us to feel the pains of this life without knowing His sustaining power and peace through it all.
God wants to see His children to experience His glory by staying close to home-Him.
He does not wants us straying from home searching for something we long for or lust after.
He wants to to long for Him and His heart of truth so He can fill us with His satisfaction and joy.
God is our ultimate parent who wants us to be completely happy so He gave His only son so we could not just be His children but His contented children who sing continuously of Him to the world. He wants us to be excited about the life He has given us and continues to give with each breath.
He wants us to feel His urgency and feel His desire and know Him and His true peace and love and joy-His patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
God’s urgency for us to know Him does not fade-it is continuous and He wants us to feel this urgency.
Tell God you don’t feel this urgency but you want to feel it-you want to feel His excitement for us to have His wisdom-to know fully His presence.
God wants us to be urgent about finding our treasure in Him.
...because He loves us, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Please build in me excitement for Your name and the wisdom of Your kingdom along with urgency to see and use what You give me today. Forgive me for my weak attitude. Lead me way from the world.
Abba, Father,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
