Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, load me with desire to seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your insight to righteousness. Hold my attention constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day- Philippians 1:6-”He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus
Today’s reading: Psalm 1-3 Acts 17:1-15
Humble Yourself
“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Matthew 23:12
We must hear Jesus say to us in this verse, “Humble yourself”.
We have said before that every waking minute is a spiritual war and some take issue with this but pride is one of the biggest reasons for this war. Either you fight against pride or you glory in it.
Bragging or boasting is what the proud do when they succeed.
Self pity says, “Give me your attention because I suffer so well.”
Each is engulfed with pride. Neither involves humility.
Humility comes from a genuine feeling of unworthiness.
“So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, “We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.” Luke 17:10
The humble do what Love commands us to do in His Spirit. If we are blessed with great abilities, then love commands that we use our abilities for loving our neighbor the way we love ourselves and that will manifest itself in many righteous ways.
As we make a living-moving from day to day-we must always walk in the Lord and give Him the glory for it all.
Acts 17:28 says, “For in Him we live and move and have our being.”
A humble life is a quiet life.
“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:11
This is a goal to pray over-the ambition to live a quiet and humble life in Christ.
The war with ego and pride never stops. The greatest weapon we have is a heart and mind controlled by God’s Holy Spirit-the Spirit of Truth.
Tell God you want His wisdom and strength to fight this war.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Your name is the most precious and I want to know Your kingdom as much as I can. Forgive me making me and my pride my focus. Lead me away from self-pity.
Father of all strength,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
