How Are You-Toward God?

Friday, April 12, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:    Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. (Psalm 23:4)

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: 1 SAMUEL 22-24 LUKE 12:1-31

How Are You-Toward God?

Luke 18:25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

It is time for us to check up on our judging 'skills'. Is a man condemned for becoming wealthy and saving a lot for the future?

Luke 12: 20 But God said to him(the rich man who had built storehouses to store his wealth), ‘You fool! This very night you will die! And the things you prepared — whose will they be?’

First, if you are proud of your judging 'skills', these 'skills' are nothing but sins. Luke 12:20 above is followed by verse 21 which says:

"21 That’s how it is with anyone who stores up wealth for himself without being rich toward God.”

The key is-and not just for the rich man for all of us-is how we are 'toward God'.

Remember the verse that says, "Whoever has been given much will be responsible for much. Much more will be expected from the one who has been given more?” Luke 12:48

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;

Please hear this: We have all been given all we need. In these passages I hear that we have the blessing of gifts and the duty to use all we have. In Christ we have a mandate to go and make disciples and love our neighbor as ourselves as we pour ourselves into loving God with all we are.

Don't judge a rich man or any man-judge yourself-you have been given as much as any man or woman alive-by the word of God-you have all you need.

The 'widow'(Mark 12:41-44) gave all she had. We are to do the same.

Are we rich toward God? Having been made rich by God, yes, if we take up our cross daily and follow Him. If not, we all have work to continue as we give all to our Lord's calling in our lives.

Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation for us in Christ Jesus,

so, let's get busy giving by God's desire for us.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I lack so much in how I am toward You, oh God. Have mercy and forgive my laziness.

Merciful and wonderful Lord of all,

In the name of Chirst Jesus,

Amen
