How Are We Restored?

In Psalm 23, we read, “He restores my soul”. The obvious answer is just before that.

“The Lord is my shepherd”-if we meditate on our Master who gives us all we need, “I shall not want”.

Paul is old when he wrote 2 Corinthians 4:16–18:

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

 “Our ‘inner’ selves are being renewed(restored) day by day” because our Lord Jesus leads our inner selves to green pastures and beside still waters.

Yes, Paul was getting old and could not see well(no eye glasses). He had been beaten down(no modern wound treatment) and his body could not journey well the way it once did. Does this sound familiar to anyone but me?

In 2 Corinthians 5:7, Paul says, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” This tells us that the most precious things we have are not what can be seen but that which comes from the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit restores us or renews our inner strength and lifts our lowly spirits and encourages us-if-big if-if we are constant in our seeking God-consistent in our training our minds to stay on God in Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6 (ESV)

6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Growing older is something we are all faced with and the enemy uses all he has to break us down in our feelings.

Our God in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit gives us all things we need to not just fight but to win and be renewed in our spirits so we can be the encouragement to our brothers and sisters to the glory of God before the world.

All of us have a part of God’s plan to work in love and power.

Tell God you want to be restored so you can get busy for Him.

...because He loves us, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Fill me with praise to hallow Your name and let me desire kingdom obedience. Let me use what You give me today for your glory. Lead me away from bad attitudes.
