Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV
Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”
Verse of the day: Philippians 4:4
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Today’s reading: Proverbs 16-18 2 Corinthians 6
Greater Love
Jesus says in John 13:34&35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another”
In John 15:13, Jesus says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends”
Jesus gives us the connection between His death and our fulfilling His commandment to, “Love your neighbor as yourself”.
Jesus tells us to, “Love as I have loved”. On one hand Jesus’ death shows us how to love and on the other gives us what we must have-new birth and a new spirit- to love as He did. He shows us how to love and supplies all we need to do it. The Holy Spirit loving through us is our mark in this world that we belong to Him.
Here it is: When we love like Jesus loved and loves, we are recognized as His own people.
The delight and joy of Jesus is magnifying the worth of His Father. In dying, He magnified the worth of God and His plan.
Jesus displayed His joy in sacrificing His life for all and told us to do the same. This is our aim-to love as Jesus loved and to rejoice as He did and still does-to be full of joy as He was and is.
Loving our enemies is hard. But it was not hard for Jesus. Ask God to move you from where you are now to where He says you need to be.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Help me delight in Your name more and more. Help me feel Your kingdom in my heart. Tear down my walls that keep me from loving as Jesus loved. Forgive me for hating. Lead me away from evil.
Father of Love,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
