Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Luke 2:8-11

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Memory verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Good-ness

If you look at the 9 fruits of the Spirit long enough and try to define them, you will probably find yourself using some of the same words in the definitions. That is because, in the way the world defines them, some of them seem interchangeable like 'gentleness' and 'kindness'. The best I can say is that until God gives understanding through scripture study, meditation, and prayer you will simply have to trust Him.

As God in Christ as our perfect example:

Nahum 1:7

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble.

He cares for those who trust in him.

Do you know if people come to you when they need to talk? Do people depend on you?

Let's start in the beginning. Do you feel that God is a refuge when you have trouble? Do you really? If you do not feel this, it may be because you have not trusted Him in some hard things in your life. Trust God. We must trust Him with the smallest to the most difficult things in our lives. When we have learned to trust God, people start to see trust in us. We have an evidence of strong faith in our lives that folks sense and our God gives us His wisdom to listen and reason.

The dictionary defines good as: Being positive or desirable.

The Lord makes our faith desirable to those in need. The Lord's goodness in us gives them a feeling of comfort and or trustworthiness. The goodness of God in us opens up many doors to ministry. This means we are becoming what God intends for us to be.

What do we mean when we tell the little ones to be 'good'? We want others to 'feel good' about being around them. Yes, it is to protect them from the consequences of being 'bad', but, we also want them to experience what 'being good' 'feels' like in social situations.

Can we be good? Yes we can. We can appear good without the Holy Spirit's power but it is exhausting, trust me. I have tried in my own power. But when we surrender to the Holy Spirit and trust Him, it is God in Christ Jesus who makes us desirable for the hurting to trust.

Yes, I can give a definition, but God has to give you meaning-His meaning is always with purpose in your place in His kingdom.

God's goodness is flowing and fully transferrable to us if we surrender and trust. Remember, goodness is a fruit of the Spirit. We receive the fruit when we are surrendered and free in Him.

Goodness-accept it, unwrap it, learn it. The Spirit is always ready. Are you?

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for not listening-not surrendering. Holy Spirit, speak to me, remind me I have much learning for the work today.

Great God of perfect Goodness,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
