Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: Luke 1:30-33
30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
Today’s reading: Amos 1-3 Revelation 6
Good And Perfect Gifts
James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Christmas lights are a fascination that brings joy and excitement to many. They seem to be in every neighborhood, city, state, and country.
We all want to give the ‘perfect gift’ to each loved one on our list and to tell you the truth, for me, it is bewildering. I’m either no good at it or resources are never enough.
Then I have to remember that I cannot give the perfect gift. I simply need to give gifts in love.
Perfect Christmas lights are from the ‘Father of Heavenly lights’ from above who gives every good and perfect gift.
I will never be that...but I can leave the results of my giving in His hands. God does not change like the shadow of a tree in my yard on a bright day as time passes.
God gives us what we need and all we need-and it is all good and perfect.
So, it occurs to me, I cannot give a perfect gift- but I can give perfectly- but only if I do it in the love of my Father in Heaven in Christ.
God does not control our reaction to His gifts-but He continues to give day in and day out. If we are not pleased with His perfect gifts, His love does not change-He continues to give us each day what He knows we need.
So, let’s ‘give’ by 1 Corinthians 13, verses 4 through 8. Ask God to take your pride out of your giving. Your loved ones don’t need perfect ‘gifts’ from you. They only need your giving to be done in the perfect love of God with kindness and gentleness and true joy. Our loved ones must always know and feel that God’s love in us for them always protects, always trusts, always hopes and will always be there no matter what.
Depend on God to love through Your giving.
...because He loves us, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Your name and love are perfect and never failing always. Your kingdom come in my heart so my love is as it is in Heaven. Give me today the understanding I need for Your glory. Forgive me my selfish attitude. Lead me away from evil.
Father of heavenly lights,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
