Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: Ephesians 1:9-10
9 “...(He) let us know his secret purpose. This was what God wanted, and He planned to do it through Christ. 10 His goal was to carry out his plan when the right time came. He planned that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together in Christ as the head.”
Today’s reading: Jeremiah 37-39 Hebrews 3
Assurance #2
Pursuing assurance by believing God’s testimony.
The entire New Testament is written for our assurance. It is God’s word to our hearts. Daily reading is a must. Bathing our hearts and minds in God’s word is pursuit of assurance.
But there are some special verses that help. One favorite is 1 John 3:18-22
“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.”
This tells us that our assurance comes from putting feet to our love-touching people in the name of our Lord-doing what pleases God-this builds our confidence in Him. This is what assurance is-confidence-growing faith in God. The more we get into God’s word and love folks in action and deed the more we trust God and the less we hear doubt in our own hearts.
Being lazy won’t cut it. Just waiting for your faith to grow will never happen. Listening to great teachers and preachers and reading good books will give you righteous material-but that is like having good tools-the tools won’t do the work themselves-your hands must employ the tools for the work to amount to anything. Great faith is the result of much soul work and much love-action.
Faith is a crop that must be tended-it must be worked-a muscle that must be developed-a holy lesson that must be learned. Develop good work habits.
Ask God how to increase your faith-”Lord, what should I do?”
...because He loves you, He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your Holy And righteous name. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my heart as it is in Heaven. Give me what You want me to have today to do Your will. Deliver me from evil.
Glorious God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
