Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, open my heart and mind, Holy Spirit. Fill my consciousness and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day—Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Today’s reading: Psalm 81-83 Romans 11:19-36
God’s Kindness
I Kings 19:3 says, “Elijah was afraid and ran for his life”.
So he ran-40 days and nights-to Mt Horeb, the mountain of God.(here’s a thought for another day: when running away in fear, make sure your run to God-not away from Him)
On the mountain there was a wind that tore the very mountains apart long with an earthquake and a fire. This was a great display of the physical power of God’s spirit.
But God communicated with Elijah-who in his cowardice had run-but ran to God on His mountain-God communicated gently in His kindness.
God communicated in His kindness and gentleness-in a quiet whisper.
Paul reminds us of God’s gentleness in Romans 11:22
22 “Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.”
God, through Paul, teaches us to ‘continue in His kindness’.
With all the hate the enemy is oppressing the world with today, the Lord still teaches us to use His kindness. It is, after all, one of the nine fruits of the spirit listed in Galatians 5:22&23.
Physics tells us that two solids cannot occupy the same space. Unfortunately, our minds and hearts don’t deal with solids and the enemy tries to push his hate and anxiety into the place of God’s fruit.
If we are not in God’s place for us-if we are not practicing ‘God consciousness’-God’s kindness and gentleness and peace are blocked out. This cannot be a ‘the devil made me do it’...it is, again, personal choice.
Choose right now-do you run to God in fear of being deaf to Him or choose to just run where you are prey to hate and chaos?
Tell God you are tired of just running. Tell Him you are sorry for ignoring His kindness. Tell Him you want to walk in the Spirit.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Fill my heart for praise for you and Your kingdom. Forgive me for running endlessly away from. Lead me a way from evil and toward Your heart.
Most Kind God of all mercy and grace,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
