God Owes No Debt

Saturday, June 1, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Romans 4: 4 Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 2 CHRONICLES 17-18 JOHN 13:1-20

God Owes No Debt-Ever

As a child of God in Christ Jesus, do you believe you have rights?

John 1:12 ►Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

We have the right to become a child of God-we can call ourselves, 'children of God'. That is, as far as I can see in the Holy scriptures, our solitary right. God does not owe us anything.

We cannot do what we call 'kingdom work' and obligate God to us. We cannot be good enough to convince God to give us anything. God justifies-declares us righteous-pardons us-because of the sacrifice of Christ.

On the other hand, as a child of God, we can expect God to give us everything we need to do the work He has called us to do for His glory.

Isaiah 43:7 Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

The mindset of a child of God is different from that of a child of the world. The child of the world works for wages and performs for prizes.

A child of God, being changed into the image of Christ(Romans 8:29), has the very indwelling presence of God. We have the source of all power and peace.

As a child of God, we have no right to expect more-there is no more-we have God-and He has us and He has ultimately more than we ever need.

We don't need rights-all we need is to love Him with all we are-we belong to Almighty God.

Psalm 146 5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, 6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He remains faithful forever.

God does not owe-we cannot earn-His grace is given freely.

...because He loves us,

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for thinking I deserve anything. I do not. Thank You for everything I need.

My Savior who provides,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
