Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: Romans 5:10–11 (ESV)

10 “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

Today’s reading: Habakkuk 1-3 Revelation 15

God Is The Gift

In Genesis chapter 2 and 3, there are two trees mentioned. One is the tree from which Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat: ‘the tree of the knowledge of good and evil’(Genesis 2).

The other is the ‘tree of life’(Genesis 3).

Genesis 2:16“You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat,

for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Genesis 3:22 Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”

Before their sin, Adam and Eve could eat from any tree-except one-this means that at that time, they could eat from the tree of life-after their sin, they could not eat from the tree of life. They no longer had access to the tree that gives life everlasting.

Sin caused a separation from God. No more ‘walking with God in the garden in the cool of the day’-no more time with God unless there could be reconciliation or an act that erased man’s sin and brought back fellowship between God and man.

So, God had a plan that would bring mankind back to Himself. To do that, the blood of a perfect sacrifice had to be shed. Christ Jesus, God’s only Son, must be born and live and die for all our sins. When we put our faith in Christ, we are now reconciled-brought back to being acceptable in God’s presence.

The International Children’s Bible says it like this:

Romans 5:10–11 (ESV)

10 “I mean that while we were God’s enemies, God made us his friends through the death of his Son. Surely, now that we are God’s friends, God will save us through his Son’s life. 11 And not only that, but now we are also very happy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Jesus we are now God’s friends again .”

We celebrate the birth of Christ, because of the Gift of God:

Romans 3:23&24-”All people have sinned and are not good enough for God’s glory. People are made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.”

In Christ, God is our gift.

Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth and good will to all those who are friends with God in Christ Jesus.

John 15:15 “I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you"

...because He loves us…

Father in Heaven,

Glory to You, great God, in the highest. Your kingdom come in my heart to obey as in Heaven. Give me what You want me to have this day and the desire to use it. Forgive me my bad attitude and give me a glad heart. Lead me away from evil.

Great God and friend,

In the name of Christ Jesus

Amen

ree
