The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; Teach me Your statutes.

Follow God's Heart


I prayed with a man of 60 plus years and heard him ask Jesus into his life. No matter what time in life, it is never too late and it is never too late to learn as much as you can.

What do you tell a man or woman who has just started a walk in their new life with Christ? Or, what do you tell a person who has not walked the walk with Jesus that they now want to walk?


Learn to pray. Matthew, chapter 6, verses five through fifteen is what we call the 'Lord's prayer' or our model for prayer given by Jesus. You can learn it word for word or write it out in your own words. Then make a list of people you love-but remember to put your enemies at the top of the list. It will do more for you than them many times but pray for them first. Then ask God for what you need to be the person He wants you to be.

Build a habit of reading the Bible everyday. You can google 'daily Bible readings' and have the readings in your email every morning-but you must see it as part of your 'daily bread'.(Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.)

Google Bible memory verses and you can start to memorize Bible verses. We memorize a new one every 90 days-because we are over 60 years and most people think they cannot remember-but you can if you are determined.(Psalm 119:11-I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.)

Daily confess your sin. Stay clean because if you do not, you let sin build up a barrier between you and God. When you think you can't pray, it is usually a sin problem-but God is always right here.(1 John 1:9-But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away.)

Follow God's heart. Matthew 22:37-39 tells us to love God with all we are and to love our neighbor the way we love ourselves. So, we must love what God is doing in us, love Him and ask God to lead us into learning how to use the mind of Christ which is ours in Him. (1 Corinthians 2:16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? ”But we have the mind of Christ".)


This all must become habit. "This sounds like getting in a rut", you say...well, every rut I was ever stuck in I was pulled out to solid ground-all righteous ruts lead to solid ground. The Bible says the Holy Spirit gives us patience.(Galatians 5:22,23)

Tell folks about your faith when God gives you opportunity.

(1 Peter 3:15-Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope.)


This is just a place to start but only you can make it a habit. This must become your way of life-but be patient-short change doesn't last long-continuous change is life in Christ.

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me my sins. Teach me to walk in the Spirit and use the mind of Jesus and to love you, me, and my neighbor the way You want me to.
