Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, open my heart and mind, Holy Spirit. Fill my consciousness and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Verse of the day—John 1:12-13 To all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
Today’s reading: Psalm 60-62 Romans 5
Fight For The Narrow Way
Luke 13:24 “Strive to enter through the narrow door.”
The narrow gate or door is to be fought for. In our fighting for the narrow way, we are to sow seeds and water and harvest so let’s look at Luke 13:18-23.
There are four locations for sowing seed Jesus teaches about. I want us to see the locations not for our judgment, but for what the spots represent. Matthew 13
>Verse 19-This is what was sown along the path. This is the busiest place-for us-we could say along I-10. A quick trip along this path leaves little to remember. The seed flies in one window and out the other. Cluttered and distracted minds...
>Verse 20-The seed sown on rocky ground. Hill tops-those who tap dance on hill tops-those always searching for another thrill. Those who see no need for forgiveness or righteousness. But when the up turns to down-bad times-they fall away.
>Verse 22-sown among the thorns-these are all types of people. Those who are self conscious before the everyday world. Those who fight to survive-those who fight to succeed-those who fight to stay private. They kick against the goads, Acts 26:14, or fight against God’s will. These have thorns for treasure.
>Verse 23-the one who hears and understands. This person fights for the narrow road without regard for the distractions of the world or ego. (The fear the enemy plants in our minds cannot change what God in Christ has done there.)
If one of these sounds like you, it should because it hits all of us in one way or another-but-the fact that it bothers you should have you hear Jesus say, fear not.
Matthew 10:28 “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”
We are not just in good hands, we are in perfect hands.
Tell God you want to fight for His narrow way the way He wants you to.
...because He loves us, He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
Your name is more than anything I can worry about. Your kingdom holds all the treasure. Give me today what I need for sowing Your word. Forgive me for allowing worldly distractions. Lead me away from fear.
Gracious and gentle God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
