Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Galatians 5:13
13 “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Today’s reading: 1 Chronicles 16-18 John 7:28-53
Fear Being Alone
Jeremiah 32:40 “I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me." Jeremiah 32:40
God has made us a promise(everlasting covenant) to:
>Never stop doing good to us(those who trust Him, now in Christ)
> Inspire fear in us so we will not turn from Him as the children of Israel did time and again.
So how is that fear inspired? God is relentless against evil-His power is unmatched. He has defeated fearsome armies with simple fear and confusion.
1 Kings 9:11-13 "Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Elijah heard the whisper-as we hear God speaking in our hearts-but he still covered his head as he went out of his hiding place. Elijah had run from God and his responsibilities. God inspired fear in Elijah with a show of power-but did not harm him. Elijah turned back to God and did what God said.
We may have seen a little of God's power but God's power is endless, yet, He said He gives us fear so as not to turn from Him. We were children of God's wrath, Ephesians 2, but not in Christ-we know our own nature and if we fear getting back into sin this is healthy fear from the Holy Spirit. (It’s fear of walking into the dark alone.)
God says to us, "I will not turn away from doing good to you."
This is His covenant with us. Our mind should be, “I will not turn away from the good You, God, do for me.”
So, don't just greatly respect God-fear turning away from Him. Fear going into the world without His control-alone.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my life. Forgive me for not fearing You the way You intend. Increase this awareness in my life that I may turn away from You less and less.
Merciful and mighty God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
