Face God

Wednesday, October 23, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day:  Galatians 6:2

2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading:   Jeremiah 3-5 1 Timothy 4

Face God

In the second chapter of Jeremiah, God says this:

13 for my people have committed two evils:

they have forsaken me,

    the fountain of living waters,

and hewed out cisterns for themselves,

broken cisterns that can hold no water.

They had turned their backs on the 'spiritual fountain of Living water" and were depending on themselves-'broken cisterns that hold no water'.

This is our basic human condition. Paul wrote about the sin that lives in us in Romans 7:20. This battle goes on and on. But we have been made free for freedom in the spirit, Galatians 5:1.

We must not allow the fear of sin to govern our lives. Romans 8:15

For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"

As children of God, it is a privilege to know that God is our shield.

 Psalm 28:7

The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.

The angels in heaven take notice of him and go forth to become his ministers (Hebrews 1:14).

God is our strength and shield against the onslaught of the enemy.

In a weak moment, for some reasoning, we choose to turn our backs on God and trust ourselves?

That weak moment is the time to stop and take the temptation, the thought, captive. Lock it down. Ask the Holy Spirit to take that lock-box and throw it light years from you. Whatever wording works for you in your mind-employ it!

Trusting your own judgement in times of temptation is always turning your back on God. Face God-always.

Face Him...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Great God,

Forgive me for turning my back. Let me see Your face always and keep me from sin and help me lock down the thoughts that lead to sin. I will always hide in You and Your strength for me.

All power, glory, and honor are Yours!!

In Jesus' name,

Amen
