Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: 1 John 2:15-16
15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.”
Today’s reading: Jeremiah 50 Hebrews 8
Assurance #7
Proving Faith in Suffering
Every difficulty we go through in this life-every trial-all the hard things that the enemy uses to break our hearts or to break us and to make us doubt-God uses it all, if we allow Him, to prove our faith. God knows our hearts and knows how weak we may be in the hardest of times. He provides all we need(Romans 8:32).
Paul writes this in Romans 5:3-5 “And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (NASB)
This version uses ‘proven character’ in verse 4. This is closest to the Greek-’proof of character’.
Our assurance of our salvation comes with proof of our character when we persevere through heartbreak and sickness-proof to us that God has indeed poured out His endless love through His Holy Spirit in our hearts.
‘If we allow’-if we ask-if we go to God with any and all of our pain, He gives us all we need. He floods our lives with His love and makes us aware of it when we throw all our anxieties on Him(1 Peter 5:6&7)-but we must let go of it-throw it on Him-that is what He wants.
Let go of any reservations you have and throw it all on Him-God can handle all of it and longs to free you up.
I found a listing of 67 verses that say, “Return to me” or “draw near to me” says the Lord. One that is most simple but most precious to me is James 4:8:
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Draw near to God-throw off your pain-trust Him with it-let God prove your faith to yourself.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Holy and precious God, name above all, let Your kingdom be real in my heart to shape my obedience. Give me what You know I need for today. Forgive me for being angry when trials hit me. Lead me away from wickedness.
Lord of Heaven’s armies,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
