Expect The Glory Of Christ

Thursday, January 16, 2025

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Today's reading: Genesis 39-40 Matthew 11

Expect to See The Glory Of Christ

When you read God's Holy word, expect to see the glory of Christ. What does that mean?

2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)

18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

I think of myself being transformed into the image of Christ and I think, "What arrogance...", that I should think of my inner self as being even a small part of the image of Christ...

Then I read Romans 8:28&29

28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

So, yes, whether we feel we are worthy or not, our daily sanctification by the Holy Spirit does in reality change us into the image of Christ.

But, we must follow our 'operation and maintenance manual'-the Holy Bible-God's breathed instructions for His Godly life in Christ or us. We must seek and desire and obey...and expect.

Paul told us how to feel or think about this:

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Philippians 3:12

We must humbly press on to 'take hold' or become what we were chosen for-to become like Jesus.

When we read God's word, we must expect-yes, with much anticipation and all humility-to see the glory of Christ and to see Him place His glory in us.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your glory is beyond my words. Your kingdom come and your will be done in my obedience. Give me insight today to see Your glory and to become more like You. Forgive me my arrogance.

Gracious and kind but most awesome God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
