Even In The Hardest of Things
Romans 8:35 ”Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
38For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
You will see that I have changed the order of these verses and it is because I want us to hear what God says through Paul
“In all these things”-in the worst times-when it gets as bad as the enemy can make our existence, we are more than simple conquerors-more than winners.
Really, more?
A soldier is in a company that is part of a vast army that wins a war. One man in thousands of soldiers is considered a conqueror just as all His brothers and sisters in arms are considered conquerors.
This is what God wants us to hear. We are more than that in Christ-because we are in Christ.
I am a child of the living God and nothing can change that.
If my body is destroyed in battle in the war my side wins, my President sees my name and signs a form letter to my family. My life in Christ goes on in God’s presence forever. I am far more than a dead conqueror. I am a living child of the Living God who knows my name. In His love for me, He gave His son so I could be with Him.
But, I am not destroyed, my body still lives in a life that is more abundant than a common soldier whose name is seen by his President one time. My God, my Father has written my name in His book. He gives me all I need to know His love each day as fully as I can and nothing can ever separate me from Him.
We must know that, yes, even in the hardest of times, we are more than winning soldiers of a president-we are children of the victorious and loving King of Kings-God Almighty.
Tell God you want to know and live this reality fully.
...because He loves us…
Father in Heaven,
King of Kings and Lord of Lords, your name be hallowed. I desire to know Your kingdom more and more. Give me today the strength, direction, and wisdom I need for Your name’s sake. Forgive me for my sinful failings. Lead me away from self pity.
God of grace and mercy,
