Escaping Plastics

  Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Psalm 139:13-14

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 2 KINGS 24-25 JOHN 5:1-24

Escaping Plastics

John 5: 19 Therefore, Yeshua(Jesus) said this to them: “Yes, indeed! I tell you that the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does, the Son does too.

Acts 4:19 But Peter and John answered them, “What do you think is right? What would God want? Should we obey you or God? 20 We cannot be quiet. We must tell people about what we have seen and heard.”

We have seen army hoards in the movies fight in their 'armor' and it is really plastic, cardboard, and makeup. It is only artificial.

Has the plastic in the movies made its way into our way of life? Human beings have a way of imitating or copying what they see.

How about in our faith? People have seen folks 'pretend' to be 'religious' by wearing the right things and 'doing the right things'-'saying all the right things'.

Why do we do, act, and speak as we do? Is it because of what we have seen in this world or because of what we have learned from God's word and before His throne in prayer?

Peter and John had been with Jesus and seen Him do signs and wonders. Jesus was doing signs and wonders-He said that He only did "what he sees the Father doing".

We must examine our behavior by first examining our thinking and our motives. If our hearts are right before God-if we are seeking God and seeking His righteousness(Matthew 6:33), our hearts are following His paths of righteousness(Psalm 23).

If our behavior has been learned from traditions we have learned or behavior of 'religious' people around us, can it be what God wants for us?

I am suggesting that all of our behavior must be learned from God's teaching. If what you are doing now results from that and it is what you have always done, you are where God wants you.

If not, escape the plastic! It will melt away in the heat of the war that the enemy rages against the children of God and God's kingdom.

Confused? Relax, please. Ask God. Get still in front of God in humility and ask God. Don't go to a book on behavior-go to the only book that tells of God's heart for you and the world around you.

It is not our fault that we have been conditioned by the world we grew up in. It is our sin if we follow unholy leading in this world.

Escape the plastic. Put on the armor that will not melt-the only armor that God provides, Ephesians 6:10-18. Do what God says-not what carnal man says.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for not trying all my behavior by scripture and You. Teach me how to walk and speak and act.

Patient and faithful God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
