Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Joshua 1:9

9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Verses of the day- 1 Peter 2:2-3

2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.

 Today’s reading: Joshua 4-6 Luke 1:1-20

Don’t Disrespect God

Why is it silly to you? Why do you laugh? The word of God is serious. Don’t disrespect God. Don’t try to lessen His holiness or His power. Don’t ever underestimate God. Take God’s own word as truth always.-

Where does this come from? Why am I writing this to all of us?

Today’s world surrounds us with reasons to doubt God’s word-to doubt God altogether.

In Luke, chapter 1, Zechariah was serving in the Lord’s temple and an angel appeared to Him.

11 Then, to the right of the incense altar, an angel of the Lord appeared to him. 12 Zechariah was troubled and overcome with fear.

13 The angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife Elizabeth will have a son, and you will name him John.

18 Zechariah said to the angel, “What proof is there for this? I’m an old man, and my wife is beyond her childbearing years.”

19 The angel answered him, “I’m Gabriel! I stand in God’s presence. God sent me to tell you this good news. 20 But because you didn’t believe what I said, you will be unable to talk until the day this happens.”

Here’s the point. Zechariah was a chosen priest for his lifetime. He feared and honored God but he doubted the message of the angel ‘because of the age of him and his wife’.

There are no circumstances where God is not God-no matter what we think or the world says. We are called to be priests and serve with God’s own spirit-the presence of God-in our hearts. We are to love God with all we are and trust Him completely. Always keep the holiness of God in the front of your minds.

1 Peter 2:9-But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Step out of the darkness of this world. They call it ‘gray’ but there is really no gray area-it is darkness to live with sin in your heart.

God’s holiness is no less than the most serious thought we can cultivate in our lives. Stay in the middle of this reality and let the unholy doubt and laugh if they choose. Pray for them but be holy as He is holy(1 Peter 1:16).

Tell God you are sorry for doubting His word-if you have-and tell Him you want the doubt gone from your mind.

...because He loves us, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Holy and righteous is Your name. Your kingdom come in my heart to do your will. Give me today a greater sense of Your holiness and might. Forgive me for my doubting. Lead me away from darkness.

Most high God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
