Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your limitless love in Christ and endless power. Build my trust and my passion. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the day: Romans 13:8

8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Do What You Can

A woman comes in and pours expensive ‘nard’ perfume over Jesus and this starts a fuss in the onlookers.

Mark 14:8 (Jesus says), “8 She did what she could.”

Then Jesus explains that she was preparing His body for burial.

She had not announced it or asked permission to do it. She was not on the guest list-she was a ‘she’. Only men got to do the important stuff and this made the men mad.

It was her worship. Spontaneous and true worship always makes some feel uncomfortable-after all-it was not in the ‘order of things’.

She did what she could. The word broken actually is ‘shattered’. The contents were on Jesus. The jar could never be used for anything else.

This reminds me of the ‘widow’s mite’(Mark 12:41-44 and Luke 21:1-4)that tells us of a woman who did what she could.

What can we do? At the end of this day, ask yourself, “Have I done what I could do?”

When all is said and done, we have but one purpose-one use-to do what we can for Jesus.

No matter what those ‘in charge’ say-no matter what is on the schedule or in the ‘bulletin’-do what you can for Jesus.

What can I do?” you ask-don’t ask me-ask Jesus and then listen and obey.

...because He loves us…

Father in Heaven,

I want Your name to be my direction. Let me realize Your kingdom in my obedience. Give me this day what I need for knowing the joy of Jesus. Forgive me for ignoring Your truth. Lead me away from judging.

Restoring God and gentle Father,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
