Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the day: Romans 8:1-2 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”

Desiring The Source

Psalm 68:34  Give power to God, whose majesty is over Israel, and whose power is in the skies.

The giver gets the praise. So if we 'give', we get the praise-but we are to praise God. So how do we deal with the Bible telling us to give God power, and 'give God glory' and to praise him, the true giver?

The word give is in a lot of translations 'ascribe'. Well, what does ascribe mean? Simply, ascribe means to describe the source of the power or the glory.

This may seem like splitting hairs but the Bible says in so many places to 'give God glory' or power. We have no glory or power to give. It all belongs to God. Our praising God is our describing Him as the source from which comes our delight.

There is that word delight again. Again, from Psalms 37:4,"Take delight in the LORD..."

Our growth in the Lord depends on our submission to Him-our loving Him-our taking up our crosses daily-our consistent seeking of God.

The less our effort, the less our spirits experience His power and His glory. The less we experience His power and glory personally, the less our delight. The less our delight, the less we want to thank God for that power and the less we honor His glory.

The whole of Psalm 37:4,"Take delight in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart."

The more we seek Him, the more we love Him and are delighted in Him and His desires for our holiness in Him become our desires. His desires for us become our own.

As this becomes a greater reality through our persistence with the power God gives us, we voice the wonder in our hearts for the 'Giver of all things'(Romans 8:32)-we ascribe to Him power and glory. We describe Him with our delight.

If you are like so many and this does not describe your feelings toward God, pray Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us(me) in the morning with your steadfast love, that we(I)may rejoice and be glad all our(my) days.

Humble yourself under God's hand and ask Him to build a fire of desire for Him in you.

He will do it.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Righteous and Holy God, forgive me for not being persistent. Satisfy my heart and soul so That I may truly tell of Your greatness. You have all I need.

Faithful and glorious God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
