Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: 1 John 1:8–9

8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the

truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all

unrighteousness.

Verse of the day- Ephesians 6:4

4 “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord.”

Today’s reading: Nehemiah 10-11 Acts 4:1-22

Those Who Worship God

“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23–24

For my own purpose, I feel I must define worship. The dictionary defines worship as having something to do with a deity.

But worship is born from the power of a deep desire that forms our emotions, will, thoughts, and behavior for that which we treasure and cherish.

We can worship money or family or personal acclaim or we can worship God.

“You cannot serve God and money.” Matthew 6:24. The truth is that we cannot not serve God and anything else.

The command of Jesus is that “those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

‘Those who worship’...the ones to whom Jesus is so precious that we are filled with such desire for Him that our emotions, will, thoughts and behavior are all about God in Christ Jesus.

That is a mouthful and mind boggling. But please don’t let this overwhelm you. Just keep in mind the ‘Spirit and truth’.

Start with the truth. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” In other words, Jesus says, “I am the worship”.

Hebrews 12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire”.

This is one place where we cannot ‘be careful what we ask for’.

So, ask for God to consume you with the truth of Christ. Worship is natural when the Holy Spirit fuels your desire.

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my heart. Fill me with desire for You today. Forgive me for my fear. Deliver me from evil worship of anything other than You.

Consuming fire, great God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
